Wwe Star The Undertaker Joins The Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cavaliers opened the 2016-17 NBA season with a bang on Tuesday. Not only did they receive their championship rings for their victory against the Warriors in the NBA Finals and raise the first championship banner in Cleveland in 52 years, they made easy pickings of the Knicks behind yet another triple-double from LeBron James.

Making it all the more interesting was they also had the support of a living legend, The Undertaker, who was seen hanging out around the Cavaliers’ locker room before the game. And he didn’t just show up as Mark Calaway, the 51-year-old man we all know as The Undertaker who has to deal with people TP-ing his house like a mere mortal. He was dressed in his usual wrestling get-up – the long black jacket, gloves, hat and all.

Seeing as basically everyone on the Cavaliers is a wrestling fan, they were all pretty geeked.

If you’re wondering why The Undertaker took time out of his busy schedule to attend a Cavaliers game, there’s good reason. Heading into Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Warriors last season, LeBron made headlines by wearing an Undertaker t-shirt to practice, which was his subtle way of telling everyone to brace themselves for a comeback. The Cavaliers then won three games in a row, becoming the first team to bounce back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals and win the title, and the rest is history.

For that reason, the Undertaker and LeBron apparently have “mutual respect” despite there being no previous relationship. It probably helps that Kyrie Irving, who made the biggest shot of the NBA Finals, is now selling t-shirts of himself as “The Ankletaker” that have become wildly popular amongst NBA fans.
