David Haye said he could knock out Tony Bellew with one hand tied behind his back

David Haye said he could knock out Tony Bellew with one hand tied behind his backDavid Haye has insisted a fight with Tony Bellew would be of little challenge to him and suggested he could win the fight with his right hand tied behind his back.

The British heavyweight was called out by the WBC crusierweight champion mere seconds after Bellew knocked out BJ Flores in the Echo Arena on Saturday and was quick to hit back at his potential opponent after a barrage of insults.

Bellew labeled Haye ‘Spongebob Squarebants’ and a con artist ahead of a potential clash, but Haye was unconcerned with the 33-year-old’s ringside threats.

‘Bellew has dynamite in his fists but would that work on me? I don’t think so,’ Haye told Sky Sports.

‘He was taking a few big shots in the process, his defence was leaky. Against me, that’d take one shot.

‘I’ve been a heavyweight for eight or nine years. If he wants to come up, it’s an easy night’s work.

‘I’ll probably knock him out with a jab. I’ll probably knock him out with a jab.

‘I could win the fight with one hand, just my left hand, I wouldn’t even need my right hand.’

Bellew floored Flores three times on the way to becoming the first boxer to stop the American in the ring and complete a successful defence of his title.

The Liverpudlian is now set to either push through a fight with Haye or take on mandatory challenger Mairis Briedis after he cruised by Simon Vallily on the Liverpool card.
