Venomous Green Snake Spotted on Board AeroMexico Flight

Hollywood came to life in one of the worst possible ways for passengers flying to Mexico City when a snake dropped from an overhead baggage compartment and dangled over their heads.

This video, reportedly taken on an AeroMexico flight from Torreon to Mexico City on Sunday, shows a poisonous five-foot-long green viper hanging from the lockers directly above terrified passengers.

A man standing at the side appears to have jumped up from his seat in fear.

Indalecio Medina shared the video on Twitter with the comment: ‘The Viper flying…. A unique experience in the flight 231 from Aeromexico.

‘Priority in landing.’

He later added on social media: ‘I had to catch it with a blanket and obviously we gave it some magazines to read for a while.

‘The snake arrived alive and kicking, frightened but without having paid its airfare.

‘And best of all, priority when it came to landing and animal control experts waiting for the unexpected traveller.’

It has been reported that the flight had priority landing and the snake was dealt with by animal control.

Plenty of people have taken to Twitter to express their shock at the video.

One person jokingly tweeted the famous line from the Samuel L Jackson film but then added: ‘My skin crawled’.

Another said: ‘It’s worse than turbulance, crosswind, rain.’

A spokesman for Aeroméxico said: ‘AeroMexico reports that today, on flight 231 from Torreón to Mexico City, a snake was detected inside the passenger cabin.

‘Due to the presence of the animal and following security protocols, the flight was given priority to land at the AICM. Once it had landed, AICM personnel secured the reptile.

‘The procedures carried out for this flight are currently being evaluated to determine how the animal entered the cabin and measures have been taken to avoid such incidents in the future.

‘For Aeroméxico, the security of its passengers and crew is of the highest priority and it always works to meet the highest quality standards.’

In October 2012, staff on a flight from Mexico to Glasgow found a snake on the plane on arrival at the Scottish airport.
