North Beach Closed Ahead of Fireworks Display Due to Violence in MichiganSOUTH HAVEN, MICHIGAN – The beach was closed after fights broke out before Sunday’s fireworks, police said. Multiple people were arrested and at least three were injured, including a police officer, news outlets reported.

South Haven Police evacuated North Beach because of increasing violence on the beach prior to the fireworks on Sunday.

Multiple people in custody after violence erupted on North Beach in South Haven. At least three injuries after people throwing bottles into the crowd.

One is a South Haven Police Officer with a facial injury.

The Light Up the Lake display still went off at 10:35 p.m. as scheduled, but South Haven Police have closed North Beach to the public.

South Haven Police have said they have called Michigan State Police to assist with the large crowds.
