A Schweppes tractor trailer, a pickup truck and an SUV and another vehicle were involved in the crash that took place between the Tannersville and Bartonsville exits Tuesday morning, officials said.
Interstate 80 East between Tannersville and the Route 33/Route 209 interchange was closed about 6 a.m. Tuesday by a fatal crash, Pennsylvania State Police and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation report.
The Monroe County coroner was dispatched to the scene in Tunkhannock Township, according to the county emergency dispatch center.
Officials couldn’t immediately say how many vehicles were involved.
Eastbound traffic was being taken off the highway at Tannersville, but a PennDOT traffic camera showed a long line of vehicles east of that exit.
The traffic camera shows fog in the area.
