1 Critically Injured, 1 Killed in Fort Wayne Shooting at Texas Roadhouse

1 Critically Injured, 1 Killed in Fort Wayne Shooting at Texas RoadhouseFORT WAYNE, INDIANA – Police said the incident took place at around 9:30 p.m. EDT Sunday after an argument ensued at the restaurant on Washington Center Road. Several people were taken into police custody.

Fort Wayne Police are searching for suspects in three shootings that ended in two men being killed and two other victims being critically injured over the weekend.

In one shooting, one man was killed and another left in critical condition after a fight between groups resulted in gunfire, according to Fort Wayne Police Department spokesman, Officer Chris Felton.

At 9:38 p.m. Sunday, officers responded to a report of a male victim shot in the parking lot of Texas Roadhouse, 710 W. Washington Center Road. Officers found the man, who was pronounced dead by paramedics. Officers were then notified that a second gunshot victim had been privately taken to a local hospital, where he remained in critical condition late Sunday night, according to Felton.

According to Felton the following is believed to have occurred:

An argument took place between two groups of men inside the restaurant, and continued in the parking lot.

The argument soon turned into a physical fight, which led to at least one gunshot being fired and the one man being struck and injured. Friends quickly loaded him into a vehicle to go to the hospital, and the other group walked away. However, as the vehicle was leaving, they drove around the building and again encountered the rival group, at which point someone from inside the vehicle shot at that group and the second man was fatally struck.

The vehicle then continued to the hospital. Police questioned the vehicle’s occupants Sunday night, but didn’t immediately know if the shooter was among them, according to Felton. They also didn’t know what the fight was about or if gang activity had any role, he said.

The incident came minutes after another shooting left a victim in critical condition.
Officers responded to a report of a male victim shot in the parking lot of 1900 River Run Trail. They found a victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital where he remained in critical condition.

Police believe the victim was involved in some type of altercation in the parking lot with at least one male assailant, which led to the shots being fired, according to Felton. Police are unsure if the victim is an adult or juvenile because they had not confirmed his identity.

A group of males possibly involved in the incident were found by officers a few blocks away and were questioned to determine whether they were involved. Detectives are searching for and speaking with witnesses, and crime scene units are searching for and collecting evidence.

Both incidents come after another man was killed earlier in the weekend.

At 12:13 p.m. Saturday, officers responding to a report of a male victim shot outside an apartment building in the 1400 block of Greene Street found a man in critical condition. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Felton.

Initial information indicates the man was outside, when one or two male assailants rode up on a bicycle. A disturbance followed, leading to shots being fired. The victim was struck, and the suspect or suspects fled the scene.

Detectives went door to door to search for anyone who might have witnessed the killing, but had no suspect information to release.

The coroner’s office is expected to release the identities of the dead men.

The shootings remain under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County coroner’s and prosecutor’s offices.
