Terminator star Edward Furlong looked remarkably different from his fresh-faced days as John Connor in the 1991 hit movie Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
The 39-year-old was joined by a female friend for a bit of shopping in Los Angeles this week.
Rocking a pair of ripped jeans and tight-fitting white Coca Cola t-shirt, the actor was sporting a bit of stubble and has kept his hair fairly long.
With heavy bags under his eyes, Furlong looked as if his personal battles have taken their toll over the years and looked fuller in the face.
He carried a plastic bag containing his purchases as he made his way around an LA mall with his female friend.
Edward, who has a long history of battles with alcoholism and drug addiction, has continued to work in showbiz but has failed to replicate the dizzying heights of his fame as a nineties teen heartthrob.
Edward was charged with domestic violence offensives a number of times during their relationship.
The American History X star remains on probation after pleading no contest to felony charge of willful infliction of corporal injury on a cohabitant or spouse from when he violated a protective order Monica had against him – just after getting out of jail.
The couple met on the set of 2009 film Night of the Demon and went public with their relationship in 2011 – a year later Edward was arrested for domestic violence for the first time.
Speaking in 2012 to People, he said: “I was a heroin and cocaine addict. It was really scary.”
He added: “I don’t even think about [partying] anymore. It seems lonely now: running and clubbing and doing coke. I have nightmares about doing hard drugs. I’ll wake up and I’m like, ‘Did I relapse?'”
But in 2013, Furlong avoided spending time in jail after agreeing to spending time in rehab for his drug addiction after having already served 61 days behind bars.
He had a pair of sunglasses resting atop his head, and looked in poor spirits as he walked through the mall with his friend.
Edward had clearly gained some weight, and it looked as if he had opted not to run a brush through his shoulder-length hair.
Monica also looked a far cry from her Dawson’s Creek days in an olive green button down with loose-fitting black trousers, and flip flops.
Despite the hardships, he has continued to work in Hollywood, making a five-episode appearance on CSI: NY in 2005-2006.
Things seemed to be back on track for the star after he landed a role alongside Seth Rogen in 2011’s The Green Hornet, but after walking the red carpet for the film he was arrested for breaching his ex’s restraining order against him yet again.
Edward starred in Awaken and the Star Trek: Renegades pilot in 2015, and has most recently worked on Kent Harper’s thriller Karma.
He last starred in Star Trek: Renegades and Awaken last year as well as Kent Harper’s thriller Karma.
Furlong also enjoyed a five-episode stint in CSI.
Furlong has a long history of fights with his ex Rachael Kneeland, with whom he shares 10-year-old son Ethan.
