Shannen Doherty Says She is Thankful Doctors For Cancer Battle

Shannen Doherty’s breast cancer battle continued with grace and gratitude on Friday.

The 45-year-old actress, who has kept social media followers in the loop as she fights for her life, showed a measure of appreciation toward the crew of medical workers helping her through health crisis.

‘Thank you Vantage Oncology and Dr Leslie Botnick,’ Shannen wrote on her Instagram page, accompanied by a shot in which she’s posing alongside three employees of the facility.

‘Thank you to all that work there, especially Anna, Vince, Mike (pictured here) and Jackie.’

Doherty, who shot to stardom on the 1990s Fox hit Beverly Hills, 90210 as Brenda Walsh, also made a reference to ‘Maggie,’ the nickname she’s dubbed a radiation therapy machine she’s used in her aggressive treatment against the deadly disease.

‘And a big thank you to Maggie,’ said Doherty. ‘Everyday you rotated around me, I knew you were zapping the last of those pesky micro cells lingering behind. Here’s hoping I never see you again sweet Maggie!!! #lovethiscrew #cancerslayer.’

Shannen, who went to star on The WB’s Charmed after her stint on 90210, has done a meticulous job of documenting the day-to-day duties as she tends to her health, often flanked by her supportive husband of six years, Kurt Iswarienko, and her mother, Rosa Elizabeth Doherty.

Her post detailing her ‘love-hate relationship’ with Maggie, the machine, made headlines this week as it illustrated the grind Shannen’s undergone as she fights cancer.

In a shot in which she’s standing next to the massive machine, Doherty wrote that she’s ‘seen Maggie five days a week for what seems like forever,’ adding that she appreciated the high-end machinery that’s ‘part of the life saving treatment’ [she’s] receiving.

‘It’s astounding how far we have come with technology.’

The beauty was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in February of 2015, revealing her diagnosis to the public about six months later. She subsequently settled a lawsuit against her former business managers, claiming they let her health insurance lapse which in turn, stalled the urgent news of the diagnosis.
