Kodak Black Accused of Sexual Assault in South Carolina

SOUTH CAROLINA – The 19-year-old rapper is accused of sexual battery allegedly committed after a show at a hotel in Florence, S.C., in February, authorities said. Black has been in jail since May.

Stick with us for a minute and follow the vicious cycle in hip hop that plays out all too often:

1. Rapper’s fame skyrockets.
2. Rapper is charged with a crime.
3. Rapper is arrested.
4. Twitter starts #FreeRapper hashtag as well as merch.
5. Rapper is released from jail and Twitter rejoices.

Unfortunately for Kodak Black, he’s still stuck on step 4. After pleading no contest to two criminal cases (robbery and fleeing arrest), he was granted house arrest and probation earlier this month. Everyone thought that the Lil B.I.G. Pac was coming home finally after earning his spot in XXL’s 2016 Freshmen Class. But then two warrants for Kodak surfaced, one for two misdemeanor cannabis charges in Florida and the other for a sexual conduct charge in Florence, South Carolina.

The Fader reports that the Florence County Sheriff’s Office replied to them saying that, “On or about February 7, 2016 Octave [Kodak Black] is alleged to have engaged in the sexual battery of the victim at a hotel located at 2120 West Lucas Street, Florence, SC.” That address is for a Comfort Suites. He performed at the FMU Homecoming show on February 6th.

As he sits in prison in Florida, “at some point” Kodak will be transported to Florence County for an arraignment and a bond hearing, according to Major Michael M. Nunn, the General Counsel/P.I.O. for the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
