Sorry, Rose Leslie! Kit Harington got down on one knee at the 2016 Emmys on Sunday 18 September, but the ring was offered to co-host Andy Samberg, not his long-time girlfriend and former co-star Game of Thrones.
The proposal is part of a Samberg and made Harington bit before announcing the nominees in the category of varieties of the series of conversation. (John Oliver won the Emmy for his HBO show last week tonight.)
Game of Thrones actor, 29, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star, 38 – the first to be faced in the mockumentary HBO 7 Days in Hell – began the sketch explaining that they were going to recite a few short phrases the hope of making it to next year’s Emmys highlights reel.
Samberg came first, quipping, “Now it’s a party,” before handing the baton to Harington, who said cheerfully: “I came here in a limo!” The single line got better from there, with a peak when each bloodline stars Kyle Chandler directed.
“No, I will not kiss, Kyle Chandler,” joked Samberg, before Harington replied, “Yes, I’ll kiss you, Kyle Chandler.” (Friday Night Lights alum laughed willingly both).
The last gag involved Jon Snow to pop the question to the outstanding SNL. “There’s something else I want to celebrate tonight with you, Andy,” he said, dropping to one knee and pulling out a ring box. Samberg, in turn, responded as anyone in his right mind when faced with Kit Harington proposing marriage “?! ¿What, Kit, what are you doing here in the Emmy I do”
