Kendall Jenner, 20, appears on the Vogue cover wearing a bow embellished Gucci jacket, and she was photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the September issue. This is Jenner’s first Vogue cover.
Kendall Jenner has been unveiled as the cover star for US Vogue ‘s coveted September issue.
It’s the first time the supermodel has ever featured on the front of the fashion bible and to land the biggest issue of the year is a huge honour for the brunette beauty.
Posing in a black and gold matador jacket, which features pink ribbons, the topless beauty can be seen clutching on to the embellished piece as she pouts down the camera, with the line “generation K”.
With her tousled shoulder-length locks swept to one side, the vibrant cover spells out just how she’s managed to rise so quickly through the fashion ranks and referring to her social media prowess, claims: “The face that launched a billion likes.”
Hailed as the “breakout model of her generation”, the accompanying piece includes praise from big sister Kim Kardashian who credits the model’s work ethic: “She had her eyes focused on exactly what she wanted to do and she made it happen.”
Admitting that she was initially scared her family’s fame could hold her back, Kendall revealed: “Two years ago, when I first started this, I thought: This is going to be so embarrassing. No one is going to accept me, and it’s going to be a complete failure.”
Kendall first made her fashion week runway debut for Marc Jacobs two years ago and the star revealed she was so nervous about keeping a distance from her family that she dis-invited them.
She explained: “Marc invited my whole family to that first show, and I was like, ‘I love you guys, but can you please just not come?’ I was trying so hard to be taken seriously, like, ‘Guys: This is not a joke or a stunt; this is what I want to do with my life.’ I had to prove that I could do it.”
She had nothing to be worried about though, as now she’s in the select group of supermodels who have graced the cover of the fashion publication.
Confessing that the news “gave her chills” Kendall quickly thanked Vogue for the honour, writing: “Kendall stars on September issue” those words give me chills! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU”
Kendall has previously featured in the magazine and on the digital version, but this is the first time she’ll feature on the news stands.
The 20-year-old was said to be annoyed when sister Kim beat her to the Vogue cover in 2014, when she posed alongside her husband for a special joint feature ahead of their wedding.
