John Barrowman Cosplays as Harley Quinn, Kylo Ren and Others During San Diego Comic-Con

John Barrowman Cosplays as Harley Quinn, Kylo Ren and Others During San Diego Comic-ConJohn Barrowman, the host of the 2016 Eisner Awards, attended this year’s San Diego Comic-Con dressed as Harley Quinn, Zapp Brannigan from “Futurama,” Squirrel Girl and Kylo Ren.

Arrow star John Barrowman is at the world’s biggest geek-fest this weekend, and it seems like he’s already won San Diego Comic Con!

Barrowman is at the event promoting the launch of the new Torchwood comic, which he has co-written with his sister Carole Barrowman.

As a diversion, it seems Scottish-born John is getting into the spirit of Comic Con and indulging in more than a spot of cosplay. First up for your consideration is the outrageous performer in the guise of Star Wars’ Kylo Ren. And a sexy one at that too.

Not quite sure about his choice of footwear though.

Next up, and JB jumps from science-fiction into the realm of comics. Here he is cosplaying as Batman villain Harley Quinn.

Quinn first appeared in 1993 as Joker’s disturbed ally and will soon be seen on the big screen in the live action film, Suicide Squad. The Wolf of Wall Street’s Margot Robbie is playing the damaged bad girl in the upcoming Warner Bros. flick.

Heard of Squirrel Girl? No we hadn’t either. And we kind of assumed that John was just messing with us with this outfit.

But, as the more nerdier of you may know, Squirrel Girl is an actual thing. This Marvel super-hero first appeared in 1992 and, according to Wikipedia, her ability to communicate with squirrels is ‘surprisingly effective’.

Nuts? I know, right?

Our personal favourite, however, was John’s apt choice when introducing Futurama and Simpsons creator Matt Groening to the stage. It’s only Zapp Brannigan!

Never has velour been so alluring! Can we get a live-action Futurama movie with John please??

We look forward to what else the former Doctor Who star has up his sleeve this weekend. In the meantime, the first issue of Titan Comics Torchwood series, written by John Barrowman, is available now.
