Jim Henson’s beloved series “Fraggle Rock” is headed back to HBO in full HD.
The globally renowned television series has been digitally remastered to help a whole new generation of fans dance their cares away. The Jim Henson Company confirms to NBC4 that 96 episodes featuring 100 original songs will return to the network by the end of this year.
The series follows the fun adventures of furry subterranean creatures. Each episode contains a unique mix of music from all genres all while embracing themes of friendship, tolerance, diversity and caring for the planet.
Post production and film restoration studio illuminate helped remaster the series into full HD. The company says the remastering is so good, you’ll never know it wasn’t originally shot in HD.
“HBO was the initial home for the U.S. premiere of Fraggle Rock in 1983, and it’s fitting that the network premieres this beautifully remastered version of the series,” commented Richard Goldsmith, EVP, Global Distribution, The Jim Henson Company.
“In remastering the series, illuminate has created a contemporary look for the series with meticulous attention paid to every detail–sharpening the images, cleaning up the contrast, increasing the vibrancy of the colors and re-formatting for wide-screen–all under the careful supervision of Brian Henson. Fans will delight in seeing this newly formatted series, and we’ll engage a whole new audience who will love meeting the Fraggles, Gorgs and Doozers.”
The series received several prestigious awards during its original run, including three Cable ACE Awards and five International Emmy Awards.
