For a short period back in the summer of 2013 Robin Thicke was on top of the world. His hit single ‘Blurred Lines’ rocketed to the top of the charts across the world and things were looking up.
But you know what they say; when you’re at the top the only place to go is downwards; and that’s exactly what Robin did, in pretty spectacular fashion at that.
The drama began when ‘Blurred Lines’ was accused of being a sexist anthem encouraging sexual violence against women and found itself getting banned from club playlists, radio stations, and student unions. Then he and his song-writing partner Pharrell Williams were ordered to pay $7.4million to the family of Marvin Gaye after being found guilty of copyright infringement. And then his wife left him.
But now the circumstances for that last one have become clearer and they’re seriously shocking. Today a judge granted Paula Patton a restraining order from Robin Thicke, banning him from coming near her or seeing their 6-year-old son, Julian, outside of supervised visits.
According to TMZ, in the case Paula claims that Robin tried to ‘bash [her] f*cking head in’ several times. She claims that the reason she eventually ended up leaving Robin was during the filming of Warcraft in 2013 when Robin and Julian came to stay with her.
Apparently it had been agreed that Robin would take care of their son, but early in the morning he started screaming ‘[I want to] f*cking sleep … Who do you f*cking think you are not letting me sleep!‘ The judge has found a ‘history of domestic abuse’ and that’s why he granted Paula the restraining order.
Paula also claims that Robin cheated on her multiple times while he was on tour and he has a serious cocaine addiction.
The reason this is all coming to court now despite all of it having taken place in 2013 is that Paula is filing for sole custody of Julian after she alleges Robin was physically abusive towards their child. She claims that in November Julian asked Robin for a hug before bed and his father spanked him instead.
The scandalous claims, if true, will probably destroy just about any good will that is left for Robin after his previous scandals.
